Editorial Policy

Our legal guides are written and maintained by the LawyerDirectoryCanada.ca Editorial Team. Our goal is to give Canadians clear, accurate, practical information so they can understand their options and find the right lawyer.

    How we research

Every article is built from primary and authoritative sources: provincial and territorial law societies, legal aid plans, court and tribunal websites, government legislation and fee schedules, and published fee surveys. Figures such as hourly rates and filing fees are checked against these sources at the time of writing.

    How we cite sources

Articles list their main sources in a Sources section at the end, so readers can verify the information and read further.

How we keep articles up to date

Laws, fees and procedures change. We review our guides regularly and whenever we learn of a relevant change. The "Updated" date at the top of each article shows when it was last reviewed or revised.

    Not legal advice

Our articles provide general information only and are not legal advice. Every situation is different — for advice about your matter, speak with a licensed lawyer or paralegal in your province. You can search our directory to find one.

    Corrections

If you spot an error or out-of-date information, please contact us. We review every report and correct mistakes promptly.

    Independence

Paid listings on our directory do not influence the content of our guides.
